Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Developer with focus on UI and UX for our web-based application. As a Senior UI Developer, your primary responsibility will be to implement and ship beautiful user interfaces that bring a modern touch to an established platform.

This position involves building new features in React as well as maintaining and modernizing the existing features of the platform. Your experience will be important to establish and expand existing style guides and interface standards.

Effective communication is extremely important as the position requires working with multiple teams at different levels of technical interests, from designers and developers to project management and other stakeholders.

As a Senior UI Developer, you will be tasked with solving problems in practical and maintainable ways. Building these solutions will involve transferring this knowledge to the rest of the team. Additionally, a big factor in this position will be mentorship of the less experienced team members.

Essential Job Duties:

• Build a web application as part of a team
• Lead the implementation of internal and customer-facing front-end interfaces
• Build an interoperability layer between the legacy code and new developments to enable the progressive improvement of the codebase
• Modernize legacy UI code by refactoring and redesigning
• Implement and expand coverage of current unit testing
• Serve as a mentor to less experienced developers on the team
• Assist with the design process of new features and provide feedback on technical feasibility and/or complexity
• Approach software development in a manner that values the long-term benefits of building things the right way
• Strong attention to detail, especially around code quality, performance, user experience, and accessibility
• Propose and recommend tools and methodologies to solve solutions using modern technologies
• Commitment to continuous improvement of our systems and processes as well as personal improvement
• Capable of communicating complex technical issues to cross-functional audiences
• Other duties as assigned

Reporting Relationships:

• Reports to Development Manager
• Liaises closely with user experience and interface designers
• Frequent interaction with Product Owners and stakeholders

Requirements:

• 5+ years of relevant software development experience shipping production-ready code
• 3+ years of experience shipping software built on modern front-end frameworks, such as React, Angular, Vue, etc.
• Degree in software development related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience with older JavaScript frameworks (MooTools or jQuery preferable)
• Proficient using git

Preferred:

• Ability to configure and maintain webpack, including bundle optimization and caching techniques/strategies
• Experience with or knowledge of server-side rendered front-end applications
• Experience with GitHub or BitBucket
• Knowledge of accessible UX best practices
• Production experience with Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure
• Familiarity with server-side development in C#, PHP, or similar
• Familiarity with SQL

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit at a computer terminal for long periods of time.
