We’re a Canadian-owned and BC-based energy company providing renewable and practical energy solutions to more than 1.2 million customers while also taking steps toward a lower carbon future.

We’re looking for new talent to join us as we transform BC’s energy future. Our diverse team of more than 2,500 employees is committed to a safe and inclusive culture where each of us can connect, belong and grow. Join us, and let’s rethink energy together.
Position Overview
You’re a results-oriented individual who thrives on building solid and authentic partnerships that achieve business objectives. Your knowledge of the energy industry and regulatory principles combined with your passion for understanding Indigenous communities and their goals, makes you a perfect candidate for our Business Development Manager, Renewable Gas Supply.

In your role, you’ll provide leadership in assessing and developing opportunities with Indigenous groups to procure and produce renewable and low carbon gas. This includes focusing on emerging and innovative pathways, including wood-based biomass to synthesis gas (syngas), biomethane, hydrogen and other low-carbon fuels that can replace natural gas.

We're committed to building a greener future in which we reduce our customers’ emissions. We need collaborators, innovators and leaders like you to help us achieve our goal. Join us in re-thinking our energy future. In year 1, you will:
Educate, support and work with Indigenous communities and organizations to develop renewable and low carbon gas business cases and project plans.
Oversee the review of Indigenous project proposals including early-stage technical and economic evaluation to move projects from the assessment and development phase to implementation.
Identify and assist with funding opportunities to advance Indigenous project assessments, project development and implementation.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with developers, suppliers, external stakeholders, government departments and agencies, and other industry peers by engaging and influencing external organizations and industry associations.
Develop business terms, negotiate and draft agreements related to the acquisition of renewable and low carbon gas supply. In year 2, you will:
Develop concepts that may involve unique business, commercial, and contractual requirements to support project development and investment opportunities.
Build and manage a team to engage, develop, and realize business development opportunities with Indigenous groups and organizations to successfully grow renewable gas supply volumes.
Collaborate with and coordinate input from the wider Renewable Gas team and internal business units to define, develop, and evaluate business plans and criteria for various renewable gas supply development-related activities.
Liaise with Regulatory, Finance, Legal, and other internal departments to meet regulatory and other requirements. What it takes:
A bachelor’s degree in a business-related field such as business administration, commerce or engineering.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in business and/or project development, preferably within a regulated environment.
A combination of a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation and master of business administration is considered an asset
Our engaging workplace offers a wide range of challenging opportunities, while being safe, inclusive and diverse. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, while supporting life-long career development. We also encourage volunteerism and nourish the need to give back to your community.

Safety is our number one priority, and to maintain the health and safety of our employees and broader communities, we have a number of COVID-19 safety measures in place. This includes a requirement for all new employees to provide proof of full vaccination, prior to their first day of work or the start of their employment. And of course, we will consider an accommodation for anyone who’s unable to be vaccinated due to a protected ground as defined by the Human Rights Code.
