Applications are invited for a Business Development Manager to join our growing team working at the cutting edge of biodiversity monitoring. The role will focus on working with key clients in North America. NatureMetrics operates in sectors including: Water, Marine and Energy, Extractives, Infrastructure, and Conservation. Experience in any of these industries and working on biodiversity assessment projects is essential. Further experience working with protected species legislation, biomonitoring, policy / licensing, the mitigation hierarchy, biodiversity offsetting and net gain will be a distinct advantage.
NatureMetrics is on a mission to turn nature into data. We are a rapid-growth scientific technology company that uses environmental DNA to deliver essential data on biodiversity to decision-makers across a range of sectors including infrastructure, extractives, fresh water, conservation and marine & energy. We are also expanding into food and consumer goods supply chains, agriculture and financial services. NatureMetrics has delivered projects in 78 different countries. We aim to be the premier provider of nature data to companies globally by 2025.
We are a team of bright, high-energy individuals who are excited to be breaking new ground and disrupting the world of biodiversity monitoring. We take great pride in our work and are seeking new team members who will do the same.
You will be part of a team of business developers, each responsible for different geographical regions and sectors and will report to the General Manager with a dotted line to the Business Development Director. You will also work closely with the rest of team across multiple departments, particularly the North America Business Development team. The role will ideally be based in our offices in Guelph with the expectation for some hybrid at home opportunity, but this is not a prerequisite, and connections to the West coast of North America will be an asset. The role will involve occasional travel. This is a role that carries a high level of responsibility. You will be comfortable working autonomously where necessary, managing multiple priorities and ultimately thrive as part of an already highly successful team.
Familiarity with the tools we use (e.g. environmental DNA and metabarcoding) is helpful but not essential for this role since full training will be provided. Of greater importance is experience with one of more of the sectors of focus, preferably in the field of environmental management, ecology, biodiversity science/ conservation, or a project manager role.
NatureMetrics values inclusivity and diversity in the workplace. We welcome and encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds. We are committed to providing accessible employment practices that are in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. (AODA). If you require an accommodation at any stage of the recruitment process, please notify us.
