Ensure appropriate documentation for patient charts are prepared (including H&Ps, authorizations, etc).
Follows customer service protocol for excellent patient experience.
Completes patient check-in / checkout process (ensure appropriate paperwork signed/dated).
Verifying insurance and making sure to collect any copays, deductibles or other charges pertaining to the patients visit and ensuring the payment is properly posted on the patient’s account.
Schedule surgery cases in computer software, assemble charts and answer multiple phone lines (including patient arrival times).
Order front office supplies as needed.
Complete lens inventory (ensure appropriate inventory for surgical cases). Ensure daily logs / checklists are updated and in compliance.
Ensure complete patient documentation submitted to Facility billing company for timely processing.
Complete and document post-operative phone calls in a timely fashion.
Communicate effectively with other providers (physicians, nurses, unit staff, business office, and medical records) to provide for continuity of patient care.
Maintain clean and safe patient areas.
Keeping the front desk/reception area clean and always stocked. Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology and basic procedures.
Maintains and adheres to HIPAA, employee confidentiality, and privileged communications (patient, employee, and corporation).
Adheres to universal protocol and patient safety standards in accordance with Standards of Patient Care, policies and procedures and professional standards. Additional tasks as assigned by supervisor.
